Project USD 473, Chapman Elementary School
Situated on the crest of a hill, this 2-section K-5 facility offers compelling views from every classroom. The 70,000 s.f. facility is one of three new schools designed by BBN to replace those destroyed by a tornado in 2008. The City’s pride and resiliency in the wake of the disaster was an inspiration for all associated with the rebuilding project. Creating enjoyable and effective centers for learning became our key objective. The whimsical and colorful interior finishes and graphics of the Elementary School help set this tone, and were designed to facilitate a fun and memorable environment. Many sustainable features were incorporated for optimal energy efficiency and decreased maintenance.
