Project Airport Rescue & Fire Fighting Station

The City of Manhattan and the Manhattan Regional Airport developed a joint-use Airport Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) Station at the Manhattan Regional Airport. The ARFF station provides services to the Manhattan Regional Airport and also serves the residents and businesses in the southwest Manhattan area. The facility includes apparatus bays to house six (6) vehicles, two (2) of which are ARFF vehicles; complete dormitory and living quarters for the firemen; and a police substation.

“A striking, memorable structure that is not only respectful of its context but also more successful for it. It is especially important that civic buildings set the example of environmental responsibility…”
